Troop 282 Scouts camp monthly. We travel to camps in the area year round to enjoy the majestical world they will be stewards of for the rest of their lives. Troop 282 hosts not only Scouts, but guests, Webelos and family. The Troop creates a welcoming environment where you will feel welcome while watching the Scouts advance in Scout skills, Merit Badges and higher ranks.

In addition to monthly Troop camping, Scouts have 2 options for summer activities. Camp Cedars, the mid-America Council's premier camp destination as well as one other "out of council" option the Scouts vote on each year. In the past this has included, Philmont, Sea Base, Camp Kris Dobbins, Camp Alexander, Camp Many Point and many, many more.

Scouts from Troop 282 also serve as Den Chiefs for local Packs. They are active in the MAC's Order of the Arrow Lodge with Troop 282's own Porter F. serving as the Lodge's Vice Chief of Program. Troop 282 has Scouts attend National Youth Leadership training each year and offer scholarships to help Scouts defray some of the costs.

Scouts in Troop 282 have lots of service opportunities. With Scouts working on their Eagle projects, younger Scouts have a lot of flexibility of times and places they can fulfill their service obligations. Troop 282 also head the Scouting for Trees recycling program. It's an all-hands-on-deck annual service project each winter.

Fundraising is easy at Troop 282. The troop participates in the Mid-America Council's fundraisers including popcorn sales each fall and camp card sales each spring. The troop also has it's own fundraiser selling lawn care and fertilizer packages from Loveland's Grass Pad.

Troop 282 takes "A Scout is Reverent" to heart hosting the Duty to God program from PRAY annually. All 4 classes from 1st grader to high school senior are offered for all, whether you are a Scout or not. These classes help youth on their spiritual journey and earn their religious emblem knot.

We invite all to come and visit. Click the contact link below and someone will reach out, or simple stop by any Monday evening at 7PM to see the Scouts in action.
